Bethesda role-playing games put a big premium on player choice and agency, focusing on providing lots of different ways for you to solve problems, complete quests, or otherwise interact with the world. In Starfield, venturing through the galaxy to uncover the game’s story and explore the more than 1,000 planets it contains will require a spaceship. Good news, though: If you don’t feel like building one, it sounds like you can steal one.
During Microsoft’s Extended Xbox/Bethesda Showcase event, Pete Hines, Bethesda’s senior vice president of global marketing and communications, spent some time talking about all the different stuff you can get up to as you work your way through the vast galaxy of Starfield. As with other Bethesda games, the studio wants players to have opportunities…

A new expansion for Destiny 2 also means multiple seasons of activity, but 2023 and beyond will see the seasonal model overhauled. The Witch Queen era of Destiny 2 delivered four seasons of content, with each one of these three-month events having a consistent sense of design. Post-Lightfall, Bungie plans to experiment with “substantial iterations” to its seasonal model, beginning with Season 20, Season of Defiance.
According to game director Joe Blackburn, numerous seasonal quality-of-life changes will be introduced, with an eye on reducing complexity through the game’s progression systems. Umbral engrams and Umbral energies are being retired, and all you’ll need to focus an engram into a particular seasonal weapon or armor will be a seasonal engram and some Glimmer. Seasonal eng…
There’s always a lighthouse. There’s always a man. And now, there’s also a gimmick.
Episode 1 of BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea isn’t a story that sheds new light on BioShock lore, but is rather a story that stitches together two worlds in ways that don’t enhance either of them. The original BioShock’s underwater objectivist dystopia known as Rapture was a unique and fearsome place, a testament to the chaos and uncertainty that emerges when man worships himself at his own altar. BioShock Infinite’s floating city of Columbia was both a monument to manifest destiny and a tombstone marking the human empathy that perished when the city was born. Burial at Sea uncomfortably merges the two worlds, and diminishes Rapture’s enduring legacy in doing so.
Movie director Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Chappie) has commented on the movie landscape these days, saying there is a “complete saturation” of known IP dominating the box office that is threatening the existence of lower-budget productions. Hollywood’s attraction to big-budget films from known franchise could “strangle out” new ideas, the director said.
Speaking to Vice, Blomkamp said movies with budgets in the range of $40 million-$60 million, like his 2015 movie Chappie–may not be around for much longer.

It’s not often that I can forgive a game for throwing me through the geometry to my doom simply because the game itself is just too damn delightful. I am not the most fast-fingered of platformer players, but when I’m guiding a tiny creature made of wool and stuffing through a maze of fire and spikes, my reaction to failure is more woeful. Little Big Planet 3 made me feel like I was never quite good enough to solve the next puzzle… until I was, thanks to a brand new tool dumped in my lap. And then I soared.
Little Big Planet 3 is another quirky adventure pitting Sackboy against a baddie bent on destroying the balance of Craftworld, a universe pasted together from the bits and bobs in your mother’s craft closet. The game begins with sentient light bulb Newton spiriting Sackboy a…
New details have come to light about the upcoming Lord of the Rings game focused on Gollum. In a FAQ posted on Steam, developer Daedalic answered some of the questions asked most by fans, beginning with the question of if LOTR: Gollum is an official Lord of the Rings game.

Elden Ring’s highly anticipated DLC, Shadow Of The Erdtree, is quickly approaching. As we get closer to its June 21 release date, more information about the DLC is beginning to surface, such as how many new bosses lie ahead and how a new feature will allow you to adjust the game’s difficulty.
Players will notice a new menu option called Shadow Realm Blessing whenever they visit a Guidance of Grace. This will serve as a new progression system for their character that will allow them to use the DLC’s new powers. It’ll even act as a difficulty modifier to ensure players aren’t overpowered despite their level. That said, returning characters won’t be as strong in the newer areas. So, they’ll need to upgrade themselves using Scadutree Blessings.

After releasing a general overview of Call of Duty’s complicated matchmaking process earlier this year, Activision is now going into granular detail on the factor it prioritizes most: ping. The deep dive is the first of four promised white papers on the subject, with Activision committing to sharing its approach with industry peers.
As revealed in January’s outline, the most heavily weighted factor in Call of Duty’s matchmaking is ping–the time it takes for data to travel from a player’s game to the server running it. High ping can result in a bad gaming experience, with other players seeming to warp or teleport, or missing shots that appeared to be accurate.
